Cambridge City School District will once again host a free Summer CATS Camp for Cambridge students in kindergarten through 12th grade this summer.
CATS Camp will begin June 2, 2025, and run through June 30, 2025. It will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
This summer, CATS Campers in kindergarten through eighth grade will experience the Invention Project.
The Invention Project helps transform PreK-8th grade students into innovators by offering uniquely themed modules packed with hands-on challenges that encourage problem finding and solving, risk-taking and exploration.
Developed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame educators and inspired by world-changing inventors, every experience is aligned with national and state education standards.
The program will be customized to meet the needs of the Summer CATS Camp while providing teachers with tools to spark imagination and build confidence.
Partnerships with local organizations, like the Guernsey County Public Library System and the Deerassic Education Center will continue this summer as well.
While Primary, Intermediate and Middle School CATS Campers experience the Invention Project, the High School CATS Camp will operate similar to previous years with clubs, activities, credit recovery classes, work-based opportunities, and free drivers’ education available if students also participate in regular Summer CATS Camp.
Summer CATS Camp will experience other changes this year, too, as transportation will not be available this summer.
“Due to a smaller amount of grant funding available this year, we are limiting the number of weeks and the number of students we enroll in CATS Camp,” CATS Camp program director Robin Lahmers said. “Also, we will not be able to provide transportation.
“We hate to cut back on the services that this program has provided in the past, but we simply do not have the funding to continue at the same level.”
Registration for CATS Camp will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 7, 2025, at the Primary School, 5 to 7 p.m. on April 8, 2025, at the Intermediate School, and 5 to 7 p.m. on April 9, 2025, at the Middle School for High School and Middle School students.
If you have children at more than one school, you may register all your children at one time. There are limited spots available for Summer CATS Camp. More information about CATS Camp registration will be shared soon.
