Cambridge City School District Executive Administrative Assistant Laura Carpenetti received the CORAS (the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools) Outstanding Classified Staff Award presented Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, at the CORAS meeting in Zanesville.

Superintendent Dan Coffman recognized Carpenetti at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday evening at the Garfield Administrative Center. Rose Marie Daymut, director of Federal Programs nominated Carpenetti for the award.
Carpenetti began working for the district in 1991 and has dedicated more than three decades to supporting the school district. She has worked under eight superintendents and three Federal Programs’ Directors.
“This award is testament to her unwavering commitment and exemplary service within the Cambridge School District,” Daymut wrote in the nomination. “Her extensive experience and dedication to her role make her a standout for this honor.”
Over the years, Carpenetti has gained a wealth of knowledge, especially in the area of Title Funding compliance, and has become a vital resource for the district.
“Her expertise not only ensures that the district meets necessary regulation but also enhances the overall quality of education provided to students,” Daymut said. “Laura’s meticulous attention to detail is evident in all aspects of her work. She takes pride in organizing compliance documentation, meeting critical deadlines, and meticulously managing inventory for incoming invoices.”
Carpenetti is also involved in organizing conferences and professional development events for staff, helping with student registration and kindergarten registration each year, and anything else asked of her.
“Her commitment to perfection is reflected in every project she undertakes, ensuring the district operates smoothly and efficiently,” Daymut said.
Laura resides in Cambridge with her husband, Dan. They are the proud parents of three Cambridge High School graduates, Paige, Tony, and Tyler. She is also the grandmother of Pricilla and Theo with another grandchild to arrive soon.
CORAS (the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools) in partnership with the Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, is an organization of 120 school districts and other educational institutions in the 32-county region of Ohio designated as Appalachia.
The mission of CORAS is to advocate for and support the public schools of Appalachia Ohio in the continuous improvement of educational opportunities available to all the region's children.
